Maxeon supplying solar modules for 400-MW Texas solar project

Maxeon Solar Technologies will supply up to 400 MW of its high-efficiency Performance 5 UPP bifacial solar panels for the construction of the Danish Fields Solar power plant project near Houston, Texas.

Maxeon’s 21% efficiency Performance 5 UPP solar panels use a proprietary shingled design to improve efficiency, durability and reduce energy costs over the life of the system. The design compensates for real conditions such as partial shade and elevated temperatures.

“We commend TotalEnergies for using our high-performance modules to ensure long-term value and low-carbon energy for homes and businesses in Texas,” said Jeff Waters, CEO of Maxeon Solar Technologies. “We see great opportunity in the power plant market in the United States and elsewhere and believe Maxeon is in a unique position to provide owners and operators with maximum energy production and a reliable long-term return on investment.”

Maxeon expects the next generation of Performance line modules to be available in 2022 and ship late 2022 through Q3 2023.

Performance Line will utilize Maxeon’s production of large format G12 mono-PERC solar cells in Malaysia, with module assembly at Maxeon’s facility in Mexicali, Mexico.
