Neighborly acquires Pimlico; appoints group VP of franchise development

Waco, based in Texas neighbors purchased Pimlico Plumbers, a London-based independent service and maintenance company for homes and businesses. Neighborly is the parent company of Mug Joe, among other franchise brands.

The acquisition of Pimlico, a subsidiary owned by the company, expands Neighborly to 29 brands across 19 service industries and nearly 1,500 employees operating in nine countries.

Founded in 1979 by Charlie Mullins, Pimlico operates from the vision of service and maintenance that offers “more than just plumbers”.

Mullins started the business by working from home with a used van and a bag of tools. Today, Pimlico has annual sales of approximately $70 million and is recognized as the UK’s first branded plumbing company.

Pimlico’s services include heating, plumbing, bathrooms, drainage, electricity and more. With the support of more than 400 employees, the company prides itself on carrying out an average of more than 100,000 service jobs each year for homeowners and businesses in central London.

Scott Mullins will retain his role as chief executive officer of Pimlico following the acquisition; his father Charlie Mullins has stepped down as owner of Pimlico.

Neighborly has appointed Brain Woods as its new Group Vice President Franchise Development.

Led by Brad Stevenson, Neighbourly’s Chief Development Officer, Woods oversees global franchise development efforts for Neighborly’s repair cluster of brands, which consists of mr. Rooter Plumbing, Mr Electric, sir device, Control Area and Wizard Dryer Ventilation. Neighborly places its home service brands in logical clusters, under Repair, Maintenance and Improvement.

Woods began his career on Wall Street as an investment banker, working in the food and agribusiness, media and telecommunications sectors before moving into various corporate finance roles at PepsiCo and Frito Lay. He then moved into corporate strategy and worked for AT&T on several key strategic growth initiatives prior to his last role at Motel 6, where he led the franchise growth strategy with a focus on critical lead generation, target growth markets and diversity franchise acquisition.

Woods holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and an MBA in finance from the University of Texas from the Austin McCombs School of Business.
