SpaceX Super Heavy Booster has “Plumbing” on its Raptor Engine assembly, but it’s not the traditional “plumbing” you think of. It’s more of a reference to the design it has, and Elon Musk has explained why it was named and designed that way. The CEO and his space company have shown much of the Super Heavy as it nears completion.

The Super Heavy has been standing before and has already done its static firing test and has just finished assembling for its Orbital Launch Tower, which was also supposed to capture it. However, it was said that the Starship’s launch tower was still “unapproved” by the FAA.

When we talk about plumbing, it consists of pipes, routing and waterways. However, as it doesn’t power motors at the moment, remove the water from the equation and think about how tubing or pipes could benefit something like this.

Musk initially has tweeted a photo from the underside of Super Heavy, the engine structure, where numerous members of the team work on each of the pipes.

What people see in the photo is just the “primary plumbing” of the fuel lines, but the secondary and wiring are a whole different story as it’s the “main concern”.

What contributes plumbing to the super heavy?

SpaceX’s super-heavy plumbing is more where the fuel passes through, from the tank somewhere above the engine assembly to the Raptor engines below. This will help generate thrust and propel both the planet’s Super Heavy and Starship.

The plumbing on SpaceX’s Super Heavy is more of its internal conduit that would connect the fuel tank to its engines, much like when a car’s fuel lines are connected to the engine.

It is an important design and part of SpaceX’s assembly of the rocket, because without a careful approach it could lead to an explosion or the engine could not start or fly.

Raptor V2.0 engines

It was suggested that the Raptor V2.0 engines would be the ones to be included in Super Heavy’s engine configuration, especially since it is the company’s most advanced innovation. The CEO said this engine has improved his ability to produce 185 tons of thrust to 230.

SpaceX’s next goal is to cut engine costs to as much as $1,000 per ton of thrust, which would cost engine performance alone at $230,000.
