Motorists who came to a halt at the Hercules exit on US-54 due to high water on Thursday decided they would either make their own way off the freeway or turn around and head toward oncoming traffic.
ABC-7’s cameras flipped as UPS and New Age Plumbing drivers turned around on US-54 toward oncoming traffic and then took the ramp in the wrong direction to get to the access route and avoid the traffic jam as a result. of floods.
In a statement to ABC-7, a UPS spokesperson said: “We train our drivers to follow traffic rules and protect public safety. The driver in question has been fired. His decision to leave the freeway was wrong and was not taken into account. aligned with his education or our culture of safe driving.”
